A2 Media - Clearance
This is an e-mail from Paul Ryan at the Durham county council, he has e-mailed me back regarding our filming and has very optimisticly given us permission to film our project at Warton Park which is amazing news for us. He has said he is very keen for us to film there and he is happy for us to film if we can give him the dates and times of when we will be filming at the park. This obviously finally gives us a secure location to film and begins to set our filming in notion.

At the moment, your research is rather more impressive than your planning, although you need to include a little more info on your print analyses (these are nowhere near as detailed as your video considerations). You also need more on digipacks, although you can do this over Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMy main concern is a lack of planning and production materials. You need to make sure that you have copies of all the elements you list in your earlier post, particularly a script/ scenario and storyboard for your video. As I've posted on James's blog, if you are planning to shoot at the weekend, you will need to be fairly clear about what you're doing. Having got permission to shoot at the Battery, you need to make sure that you are totally professional, since other Media students (not just at Fram but elsewhere) may also want the chance and if you are disorganised, it won't impress the council (or, I would suspect, the band).
Also, crucially, you need to make sure that you tie in to the elements you need to consider for the exam - key concepts (genre, narrative, audience etc.) and the technical aspects (editing, comparison with actual products) since otherwise you will lose the focus for this aspect. You need to make sure that your blogging also takes these areas into account. Ideally, you need to produce discrete posts focusing on one or more of these areas on a regular basis (at least one, preferably more) per week. Check the documentation if you aren't sure about the areas.
You should aim to make links between your research and your developing project. How is your work evolving? How are you exploring/ subverting the conventions of the genre. Is the hippo thing a glib joke, or does it actually in some way characterise the band (do they have a sense of humour?). These are all things you need to consider and discuss.
As I said, the crucial thing at the moment is the planning. At the moment, your blog is hovering in the middle of L3, primarily due to the research, but you need to improve the planning if you are to get into L4. Take a look at Ruth's from last year (there is a link on my blog).
